About DuVela

We built DuVela for the person who's tired of working around the pain.

DuVela is a modern rehab practice in Northern Liberties, founded on a simple belief: most pain has something specific driving it. Once you know what that is, you can actually fix it. A clear plan, built around where you're trying to get back to.

The founder

After more than 4,000 patients, Dr. Gong kept seeing the same system fail people.

Over a career treating thousands of patients, Dr. Gong watched a broken pattern repeat: unnecessary procedures, missed diagnoses, treatment that chased symptoms instead of what was driving them, pain that kept coming back, mounting costs, and a lot of misinformation in between. People were spending more and getting better slower.

He founded DuVela to do it differently: a practice built to find what's actually driving the problem, treat it directly, and give people a plan that holds up afterward. Get out of pain, get back to what you do, and keep going.

That means care that doesn't look like generic, high-volume rehab: enough time to understand how your body actually moves, and a plan matched to what your assessment shows. Not a standard protocol handed to everyone who walks in with the same diagnosis.

What we believe

The principles behind every plan.

/ 01

Find what's driving it, not just where it hurts

Pain shows up where you feel it, but it rarely starts there. Every plan opens with a full movement assessment, so we're treating what's actually contributing to the problem instead of chasing the symptom.

/ 02

One system, applied to you

Every plan runs through the same four phases: Reveal, Restore, Reload, Reinforce. What changes is what the assessment finds, and how far you want to take it.

/ 03

Feeling better isn't the finish line

We don't discharge people the moment symptoms drop. You get loaded back up to real-world demand first, then given the programming to hold it.

/ 04

Everyone who wants to move better belongs here

From weekend warriors and lifelong athletes to a parent who just wants to pick up their kid pain-free. If you're serious about feeling better, this is for you.

The continuum

Getting out of pain is the start, not the finish line.

Most rehab ends the moment the pain does, which is exactly where people get hurt again. DuVela is built to carry you the whole way: out of pain, back to what you do, stronger than you were, and set up to stay there.

01 · Reveal → Restore

Out of pain

Identify what's driving it, then correct the dysfunction underneath the symptoms.

02 · Restore → Reload

Back to activity

Return to training, work, and the things you'd quietly stopped doing.

03 · Reload

Stronger than before

Build capacity past where you were when the problem started.

04 · Reinforce

Active for life

Hold the progress with long-term strength work and periodic check-ins.

Reinforce is where most rehab stops, and where we keep going. Long-term strength programming and periodic check-ins with dry needling and manual therapy keep your progress from quietly slipping. A dedicated recovery & wellness space is on the roadmap as DuVela grows.

Beyond the clinic

Sharing the work, on and off the table.

Alongside patient care, Dr. Gong shares educational content, including live assessments with people who stop to try one. Here are two.

Live assessment · Knee pain

A basketball player said his knee was swollen and sharp every morning, and rated the pain 8.5 out of 10. After a short session, he repeated the same push and reported no pain.

Live assessment · Calf & tendon

A man said calf and tendon pain limited how far he could walk each day, and that he'd read about an exercise for it online. Dr. Gong's first step was to check whether it was a tendon problem at all.
